It's been a strange year...
A line that has been written many a time, but the one consistent in all of this has been Alex Howarth Yoga. When first lock down first set in, classes moved seamlessly online. As a single mum having that connection with the community Alex has created via a screen was beyond priceless.
This isn't about just taking care of your body, it cares for your mind too. Helping us adapt and change as the world around us done exactly that too. Friendships already forged over a common love of our time on the mat strengthened only further. Guidance and support available from every angle. Zoom workshops to help us face everything this new way of living could present. And as we step out of Lockdown and onto the next stage I do so with the knowledge that that same constant remains. Always listening, always encouraging and helping with that journey. - Beth |
Your yoga teaching style is superb...I absolutely LOVE Alex's yoga classes. I’m thrilled she will continue to teach online moving forward, and so pleased that I can attend more classes with her. Online classes work particularly well around family and work life. I love to be able to get my yoga classes in first thing in the day, and if it wasn’t for young children, I would definitely book for evening classes too! The variation in the class schedule is fantastic, giving us all a variety in our practice. I loved learning about the philosophy of yoga and how we can make this more part of everyday life. The podcast and workshops you provide are great for this part of personal development too. I’m grateful Alex often offers the workshops for future download too, especially when I can’t always make the live sessions. I think Alex's yoga teaching style is superb - relaxed, funny, informative and helpful. |
It is great to know that she challenges us with her yoga classes, but provides alternative poses for all levels of ability. The encouragement you give for those in class to challenge themselves is great. Sometimes certain poses are a case of mind over matter, or just thinking about it in a different way. I love your honesty in that we don’t all have good balance every day of the week.
The variety in the class teachings is also well thought out and useful for all abilities and interests. I particularly like the different monthly focus which keeps the yoga classes far from being repetitive; but helps to focus training or further learning/development/understanding of yoga and it’s benefits from both a physical and mental aspect. - Lottie |
I'm more content with life...I started my Yoga journey with Alex Howarth Yoga with a view that it would compliment my running and also a new form of exercise to try. It has been brilliant and I’ve seen benefits in my running but not only running. Alex's Yoga classes came with added benefits, such as the mindfulness element of Yoga which I hadn’t considered before and I’m pleased that I discovered this on my Yoga journey, I’d say my mental attitude has shifted in such a positive way that I’m pretty sure I’d be in a ‘meh’ place if I hadn’t discovered meditation and mindfulness, especially in a pandemic, as well as life’s surprises which it throws every now and then! Alex's Yoga classes have certainly helped there.
Also not to mention my new interest in what I like to call ‘Yoga education’ Again, I wouldn’t have even considered learning about manifestation, learning the Yamas and Niyama’s if it weren’t for AHY. So what I’m saying is I’ve discovered more on a theory level as well as practical level which I think is pretty cool! I’m more content with life, it feels like the pressure is off and I really appreciate that, Ok, now I’m rambling! Oh and I’ve met some lovely people and made new friends as well, which again is a lovely benefit. - Lisa |
Alex has built a community...I’m 53 and came to yoga with Alex two years ago. I came to improve my Crossfit performance and was very nervous and avoidant, considering myself to be the stiffest person in the world. I had 1:1’s initially which were so helpful before starting group fitness yoga. I have stayed for yoga itself. Am I a Crossfit ninja now? No. Has my range of movement and all the associated benefits improved gradually month on month? Yes, absolutely.
One thing that always impresses me is that Alex knows us all, she knows our idiosyncrasies, our abilities, our strengths and our wobbles. She scales everything individually every session but also challenges us when necessary. We have collective fun in practice whilst working hard. When we went online this did not reduce. Alex has built a community that is encouraging and kind which we need more than ever. During this time a highlight of my week is the evening Yin class. I do believe it contributes to keeping me going and I am very grateful to what yoga with Alex and fellow yogis has brought to my life. - Rachael |

I happily set my alarm at 6.15am...I've tried many yoga classes over the years but never felt I found the right teacher or class to want to make yoga part of my life. Six months ago I started lessons over zoom with Alex and I am now proud to say it is very much part of my life. Alex is a fantastic teacher who gets the balance just right between challenging you and supporting you. I love the way her classes build as the session goes on and how the monthly focus progresses over the month. I am so grateful to Alex for bringing yoga in to my fitness routine and I genuinely, happily set my alarm at 6.15am for her early morning sessions. Thank you so much Alex!

The classes are challenging but with progressions...I’ve always had a love for yoga and when I joined up for a membership with Alex Howarth Yoga that love has just continued to grow. Alex is a fantastic teacher. Each month there is a new focus and each class is varied, never repetitive. The classes are challenging but with progressions for different levels and adaptations for injuries. Alex has a fresh approach and makes everyone feel comfortable and included. She has a strong focus on form and alignment and I have progressed so much in the past 15 mths. I love it when I achieve a pose that initially I could not get, it’s so rewarding. Alex has created a real yoga community online and has been an absolute life saver during the pandemic. I’m loving my yoga journey with Alex and the gang!
